Attempt n°5
Attempt n°5 is gestures, is actions, is clay, is destruction, is regeneration, is repetition, is process, is wind and fog, is my hands, and yours.
Unlink the identity from a still image. Emancipate gestures from the commitment of reproduction. Addressing the injury related to destruction. Coping with absence. Fill the void. Destroy the shapes again. Collect the fragments to regenerate them. Disintegrate the ceramic fragments in specks of dust. Cancel the particularity of each fragment. Focus the attention on the gesture. Forget the purpose/end result. Collect the specks, pour the water, reunite them in a whole.
Attempt n°5 is a tale of a method. The method is structured in cycles. The phases of each cycle are:
– Destruction of a piece of clay
– Recollection of the pieces
– Regeneration of the fragment to create a new form.
The aim of the project is to question stability. The aim is to forget the purpose, understand the action, rehabilitate the possibility of non action.
Cancel the product, regenerate it, repeat the cycle.
Attempt n°5 is the result obtained from the completion of the fourth cycle.
Attempt n°5 is a material archive, a synthesis of the research that has reached a symbolic end in which the number 5 coincides with the cycle 0, where the end and its synthesis becomes a new beginning, where the sums drawn open up new horizons.
