Cecilie Penney is interested in digital media’s potential for communicating emotions when software and language meet.
Form dig som en kugle / Roll up into a ball is a map over Aarhus (DK), where Penney lived when she was suffering from depression in 2018. By clicking the hotspots on the map, the viewer is drawn into five different animations of3D scanned rooms which were all central in her treatment. The videos are accompanied bytext excerpts from psychiatric journals mixed with personal notes from the period. Thereby, Penney is critical towards the “psychiatric language” and its shortcomings in fathoming the complexity of the psyche.
