Windows Into Reality
In Windows Into Reality we take part in a mail correspondence that the artist kept with an inmate on death row in Florida. The scanned letters and photographs are materials resulting from the that correspondence. The opened envelopes are received letters and the unopened are letters sent. The response the artist received was from a person who was sentenced the same year the artist was born.
In Eric Sundevåg’s artistic practice memory, time and distance are recurring themes. These also act as an investigation into the aesthetics of photography, for Sundevåg to try to understand why he started to use photography himself. The materials shown in the work isa mixture of photographs taken by the artist and archival material.
