Emma Sandström

Vol. IV

Text om detta projekt finns bara på engelska

Emma Sandström’s practice centres around mythologies, rituals and the tactile materiality of objects. In her work Sandström investigates the notion of human interactions with objects and their surroundings, primarily focusing upon the theory of animism. The notion that a trace may somehow remain, long after such interventions. Sandström creates her own physical and fictitious archives around this subject by using photography, video, found material and sculpture.

Vol. IV consists of a collection of 300 items, collected, made and curated by Sandström. In this work she explores the role of the artist, the collector and the curator. The objects are often entangled with both historical and personal meanings unknown to the public.
